Definitly Teptations

This book was definitly another hit by JR Loveless.
This book was full of well...blackmail, abuse, and love for someone who didnt love you back...maybe.
Fagan Swift was just a normal farm boy living in New York and had dreams of studying art. Then he meets Victor owner of Teptations and invites Fagan to become an escort there, and the client and the escort get to decide on all sex-related things, but they cant have sex with the client for money, which is fine with Fagan. Then he meets Xavier a rude, arrogant man who just turns out to be Victors accountant and cousin. The two dislike each other immeadetly, well Fagan tries to be friendly and Xavier ends up acting like a total SOB.
Later at a Christmas party Fagan gets drunk and ends up sleeping with the hot, handsome, rude Xavier. He wakes up and gets a call saying that his dad had a car accedant and he is needed right away so he leaves Xavier and flies home...only Xavier follows him. After alot of aruging Xavier makes a threat that Fagan cant ignore. Xavier wants sex and if he doesnt get it he'll tell Fagans father what he does for a living. Not wanting to disappoint his father again he agrees.
Now you have to read the book for yourself and find out all the spoils, heartbreak, abuse and forgivness that come with this book. It was worth it.

Swift's Temptation

J.R. Loveless is pretty much a gift to writing world. I love all her books and this one is not an exception of that love.

Fagan grew up on a farm but there's a lot of tension there, particularly with his father , especially after his mother died and him coming out gay. So he leaves with his best friend Trinity to New York. Fagan hopes to finally pursue his desire in exploring his interest and talent in art, but New York isn't cheap. Fortunately his stumbles on a job that pays reasonably well. The job is of an escort. Now, Fagan isn't the sort of escort that sleeps with his clients just because he's an escort and seeing how his clients are female he doesn't , so he provides companionship for lonely women. Fagan is adjusting to his job and seems to really hit it off well with a majority of his colleagues but not with Xavier.

From the beginning Xavier makes an incredibly negative impression on Fagan. Xavier is quick to judge Fagan and seeks every opportunity to belittle him. Xavier is cold, calculating, manipulative, possessive, angry, reserved, and mean. However, he is capable of love. He has just been hurt in the past and it served to make him harden his emotions, so he would never have to go through that ordeal ever again. So when Fagan enters his life, he doesn't know how to handle his attraction. He doesn't like that he is attracted to Fagan because he's prejudged to be nothing but a high end prostitute with nothing else to offer him. He does make a lot of mistakes along the way with Fagan. Yes, there is a scene that might come off like it was not consensual. It was hard to read. It makes you hate Xavier, if you didn't already. Truthfully though, i think it's right on that border. There are some scenes that are hard to read and then believe that Xavier is ultimately a good character, because there's evidence proving otherwise.

Then Fagan gets a call from home that makes him drop everything and he rushes back to the farm. With Xavier quick on his heels. Xavier keeps pushing but just when Fagan starts feeling something for him, Xavier does something so incredibly cruel and he pushes Fagan away because of it. At this point in the story it's all about if Fagan can forgive Xavier and if Xavier can let go of his past so that the two have a fighting chance at something that could be beautiful.

I will say it took me awhile to even like Xavier let alone accept that his character could be redeemed. Yet, at the end i was there with Fagan. I was cheering them on at the end. I loved their story. It wasn't by any means a traditional love story but i think that's the number one reason why i loved it so much. It's kind of like a modern m/m version of Beauty and the Beast, which coincidentally is my favorite Disney movie.

4 small town stars! Beautiful and hopeful!

Fagan is a small town boy in the big town of New York. He’s desperate for a job and when he finds a job at an escort, that pays good money, of course he jumps. While there he meets, the sexy (and yes he knows it) Xavier. And as much as Fagan finds him obnoxious, he can’t deny the spark her feels for him. One night during a company Christmas party Fagan has a little too much to drink and wakes up to find himself in bed with none other than Xavier. And before he can even come to terms with that, he gets a call from his best friend, informing him that his dad is in the hospital. Xavier not happy with the sudden exit of Fagan, decides blackmailing him will keep him in his life. Can Fagan deal with Xavier and his antics, while trying to take care of his dad? Will Xavier actually admit his true feelings for the small town boy??

This book had it’s emotional moments, but there were times I did chuckle. You will love to hate Xavier and his know it all antics. And you’ll want to hug Fagan because of his struggles. This is the first book I’ve read of J.R’s but after this I know I’ll be reading more.

best referance, Plumb's is a Plum

if you are in the veterinary field, you need this book!! I have bought the newest edition of Plumbs as each one has come out. If a medication is used in veterinary treatments, approved or not for animal use, Plumbs will tell you everything about that drug. Drawbacks, cautions, dosages,(including which dosage for different species, as well as dosages for different problems). I have been a vet tech for close to 30 years, and this is the best drug referance I have ever used.

An excellent veterinary drug handbook

This is the very best pharmaceutical book I have ever owned.
What makes it so worth the price is that not only are the drugs
listed alphabetically by name, but also you can reference them by
use- for example "Otic preparations" "Opthalmic analgesics" and etc...

About the Author
An English honours graduate from St Stephen s College, Shreya Prabhu Jindal currently teaches English in Vasant Valley School, Delhi. She started writing in 2003, when, at age thirteen, she discovered the existence of fan fiction. She has continued to read and write fan fiction since, and enjoys it immensely.

Shreya has also dabbled in scriptwriting. In 2009 she co-scripted a short film, Kuch Spice to Make It Meetha, for MadMidaas Films. The film, whichstars Purab Kohli and Nauheed Cyrusi, was an instant hit on YouTube when it was uploaded in February 2012.

Acutely observed drama around freshman life forms

All my life, I have read a serious book a week: novels, poetry, non-fiction in all areas... yet at age 54, this is the first book review that I am writing.

Her Mom called, an old friend, beside herself with excitement about having a published daughter!

The book description on Amazon is pure horror! An asinine, sophomoric plot about a grownup boy in the ozone about a dead girl and her stunted Dad who teaches Victorian Lit, directing loony mania at the dead daughter's ex-boyfriend and a hapless co-student.

Then, summoning discipline, I began to read... and to my surprise, the story began flowing.

At my age, some willing suspension of disbelief was indeed required, but once I let myself drift into the first year hostel, there was no stopping. Small events keep happening at pace, on almost every page, noted astutely by an alert author.

The story flows easily, almost imperceptibly, without big incidents. Yet the knotting and unknotting happens nicely and the tension is built and resolved quite expertly for a first novel.

I liked the flashbacks, done with neat technique. And the adroitly inserted deceptively innocuous but acute social comments ("At least it hadn't been a Muslim") show her keen observation skills.
Will travel next year to a place called Jaipur that holds an annual Lit Fest, to get the autographed copy of the next book...

Interesting read

Another Chance at Life a beautifully crafted story which meanders effortlessly between the past and present, capturing the emotional states of its different characters as life events affect them. A well written piece showing great maturity and understanding of life by such a young author. Very commendable. A definite page turner (even wanted to physically turn the pages on Kindle!) and a thoroughly enjoyable read. I look forward to the author's next book.

Moving Story and Beautifully Written

I read this book months ago and it is still with me, like a song stuck in my head. The author has a subtle, deft hand in telling an incredibly sad, honest, and hopeful story. The tragedy of Aditya's girlfriend's death is not overdone or melodramatic, but exists quietly in the background, shading the protagonist's actions and relationships in ways even he does not realize. He deals with the trauma in pieces as he is able, and the reader comes to know his overwhelming pain through brief flashes of memories and quiet confessions. The author doesn't just drag us through a tragedy just to make us cry, though. The story is ultimately hopeful, capturing people's ability to heal and grow. The healing is a slow, painful process, but it's honest and it happens in every chapter, whether the characters realize it until the very end or not. It's beautifully done. Throughout the story, the characters become realistically developed, and the setting is vibrant, immediately recalling the details and atmosphere of my own college experience. Every aspect of the story is skillfully portrayed by a very observant writer. I'm glad to have read it, and I'm looking forward to reading it again on a rainy day.

About the Author

John Cleland was an English writer who is best known for his erotic novel Fanny Hill: or, the Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure. An employee of the British East India Company, Cleland spent extended periods in Bombay, India, until recalled to England because of his father s illness. With no financial support from his family, Cleland amassed enough debt to land in Fleet Prison, where he is believed to have composed Fanny Hill, /em>. His subsequent arrest following the publication of Fanny Hill prompted Cleland to withdraw the novel, and while it was not legally published for over a hundred years, it continued to sell well as a pirated work. Cleland never achieved professional or financial success with his writing. He died in 1789.

Sexier than you might expect...

A surprising story from an era we don't associate with erotic writing.... and maybe we should. Is it realistic? No. Is it moralizing? Yes. Is it politically correct? Absolutely not! (Didn't know the word at the time Fanny Hill was written, thank goodness.) So why read it?

Because it's a piece of history. Because it serves as a reminder that my tightly-laced European ancestors were not as stodgy as history class so often leads us to believe. Because the imagery is authentic, bringing to life a time and environment that often seems mysteriously foreign. Plus, there is some delightful erotic imagery, playful scenes, and a sweet, easy-to-enjoy narrator. Even years later, descriptions of scenes sometimes flash into my mind, as they were masterfully portrayed by Cleland so many hundreds of years ago.

Personally I find it a comforting and refreshing reminder that people aren't so different, after all. And who knows, if I had been born back before the American Revolution, I might well have enjoyed reading about Fanny Hill's adventures, just as much as I do now.

About the Author
Barry Chess has been teaching microbiology at Pasadena City College for over 15 years. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from California State University, Los Angeles, and did several years of postgraduate work at the University of California, Irvine, where his research focused on the expression of eukaryotic genes involved in the development of muscle and bone. At Pasadena City College, Barry developed a new course in human genetics and helped to institute a biotechnology program. He regularly teaches courses in microbiology, general biology, and genetics, and works with students completing independent research projects in biology and microbiology. Over the past several years, Barry’s interests have begun to focus on innovative methods of teaching that lead to greater student understanding. He has written cases for the National Center for Case Study Teaching in Science and presented talks at national meetings on the use of case studies in the classroom. In 2009, his laboratory manual, Laboratory Applications in Microbiology: A Case Study Approach, was published. He is thrilled and feels very fortunate to be collaborating with Kathy Talaro, with whom he has worked in the classroom for more than a decade, on this ninth edition. Barry is a member of the American Society for Microbiology and regularly attends meetings in his fields of interest, both to keep current of changes in the discipline and to exchange teaching and learning strategies with others in the field.

Kathleen Park Talaro is a microbiologist, educator, author, and artist. She has been nurturing her love of microbiology since her youth growing up on an Idaho farm where she was first fascinated by tiny creatures she could just barely see swimming in a pond. This interest in the microbial world led to a biology major at Idaho State University, where she worked as a teaching assistant and scientific illustrator for one of her professors. This was the beginning of an avocation that she continues today―that of lending her artistic hand to interpretation of scientific concepts. She continued her education at Arizona State University, Occidental College, California Institute of Technology, and California State University. She has taught microbiology and major’s biology courses at Pasadena City College for 30 years, during which time she developed new curricula and refined laboratory experiments. She has been an author of, and contributor to, several publications of the William C. Brown Company and McGraw-Hill Publishers since the early 1980s, first illustrating and writing for laboratory manuals and later developing this textbook. She has also served as a coauthor with Kelly Cowan on the first two editions of Microbiology: A Systems Approach. Kathy continues to make microbiology a major focus of her life and is passionate about conveying the significance and practical knowledge of the subject to students, colleagues, family, friends, and practically anyone who shows interest. In addition to her writing and illustration, she keeps current attending conferences and participating in the American Society for Microbiology and its undergraduate educational programs. She is gratified by the many supportive notes and letters she has received over the years from devotees of microbiology and users of her book. She lives in Altadena, California, with husband Dave Bedrosian, and son David. Whenever she can, she visits her family in Idaho. In her spare time, she enjoys photography, reading true crime books, music, crossword puzzles, and playing with her rescued kitties.

Very disappointed in this because purchase. First of all I bought I for a summer class for 160$ and it's not even the whole book. It only goes to chapter 17. I will be contacting the company for a return. This is very inconvenient for me because I am currently on this class and having to order another one. DONT NOT ORDER.

Book doesn't contain all chapters

I ordered this book because I'm taking microbiology. Half way through the course I found out that this book only goes up to chapter 17 and it doesn't contain all the chapters that the regular book has in it. I am very disappointed because I ended up failing an exam because of this book.

It's not the whole book. Why would they even do this? -- I don't know. I'm in the middle of my stressful semester and now I have to buy a new Micro book and re-sale this one. I'm so annoyed. -_-
