This is an awesome addition to have if thou own the original McGuffy readers. It lays out, book by book and by lesson, things you as the teacher can do to add to the lesson so that the student gets it better.
I don't own the original...I have the eclectic readers. So, it was not very useful for me. It still had a few tools/ideas for me in it, but better some than none :)

Ruth Beechick was a excellent example of how to truly teach children, with out squelching the love of learning out of them. Her main rule was, if it is not fun then you are doing it wrong. This book gives encouragement and help to educators and homeschooling parents as to how to go about using the McGuffey readers if one is needs further instruction or help on how to use them to actually teach children. It is simple and straight forward. But, as others have mentioned, make sure you purchase the correct edition of the McGuffey readers to use this guide. As this guide actually has lesson by lesson ideas for teaching, and other editions of the readers will not have the same lessons.
